With any new release of an operating system it's the big new features that normally get all the attention and that's perfectly understandable. However, it's also the little improvements that help the whole experience and BlackBerry 10.3 has plenty of those.

When it comes to OS updates for the BlackBerry Passport, Rogers seems to be leading the pack. They were the first carrier to roll out an update before the device was fully officially announced and now they've gone ahead and released another. Now appearing on Passports is software update v10.3.0.908 otherwise known as OS v10.3.0.1418.

The update doesn't really specify what has changed, but folks in the CrackBerry Forums are already digging through it. Of course, you don't really need to be on Rogers to receive the update either. The files are available for loading yourself if you wish and if you hold out a bit later, I'm sure some autoloaders will be created.

Recently we published a poll asking CrackBerry readers if 'you use a custom BBM PIN'. As I mentioned then, we've had the ability to create our own PIN since the last update of BBM and while it's a pretty cool new addition I wasn't convinced that it was worth spending a couple of bucks a month on for the privilege.

Yesterday, BlackBerry started seeding OS 10.3.2.281 to those who are a part of the BlackBerry 10.3 beta program and as always, a few hours later the files started appearing for everyone to download. First they appeared for the BlackBerry Passport, then the BlackBerry Z30 and BlackBerry Classic and now that the beta has landed in the hands of even more folks, so have the files for several other devices including the Z10 (No STL100-1) Q5, Q10. As the OS has been 'out there' and kinda 'leaked' since yesterday, there's already a full change log for it from BlackBerry plus, whatever other stuff those who already have it installed have found.

Remember the good old days when BlackBerry used to release beta OS builds to developers? Well, they're back. BlackBerry has rather quietly updated the BlackBerry Dev Alpha downloads page with beta builds of BlackBerry 10.3.3.746 so developers may test their apps against that build to ensure all remains working fine.

Sticking with the Calendar app theme today, Michael Clewley has shared a couple of more treats for us from his BBM Channel. One of which I have been wanting for a while, the other, also a most welcome feature. The option 'Add Task' from the Calendar is finally here. Well, not yet 'here' exactly but it's coming. We'll also be seeing a feature called Meeting Mode. This is basically an option you can turn on which then gives you the ability to set a Notification Profile for the duration of that meeting.

In the last BlackBerry OS 10.3 teaser for today, Michael Clewley tells a bit about updates to the Remember app. I mainly use the Remember app to list tasks, so this piece of news is great for me. In BlackBerry OS 10.3, the Remember app will consist of two tabs - Tasks and Notes. Making it easier to go through your Remember entries. You can then set which one will be your default view. So, if you're like me, you'll probably want the Tasks tab set as default.

The BlackBerry 10.3 SDK Beta is now available for developers to get updating their BB10 apps. We've already been through some of the features the SDK promises to offer, but the major takeway is that the Adobe Air runtime will be retired. Beyond software, BlackBerry confirmed there is a simulator included for an upcoming device with a 1440 x 1440 square screen, which sounds an awful lot like the Windermere. BlackBerry's Tim Neil also confirmed that we'll see a BlackBerry Classic device this year running 10.3.1, so devs can get started optimizing now, even though there's going to be another SDK release for that software.
